Vacation rental
Casa Abejas
Description
Casa Abejas sits in the heart of centro, just steps from Las Monjas (Templo de la Purísima Concepción, San Miguel’s iconic cloistered convent). One of the city’s older homes, it has been beautifully restored to blend historic character with modern comfort.
The four bedrooms are elegantly appointed with luxurious furnishings and linens. Two are on the lower level (one King, one Queen), and two are on the upper level (one King, and one with twins that convert to a King). All four have ensuite bathrooms. The house a heated pool, Wi-Fi, purified water, and large flat-screen TVs.
The living room and lower bedrooms open directly onto a lush garden with the swimming pool and shaded outdoor seating creating an easy, indoor-outdoor flow. Throughout the property, you’ll find inviting nooks to unwind and take in views of the surrounding church domes and rooftops.
The crown jewel is the roof terrace, with some of the best views of Las Monjas in San Miguel. It’s outfitted for yoga (mats provided), has a ping pong table, lounge seating, and a covered bar an ideal spot for sunset cocktails.
A warm, attentive staff of three cares for the home Monday through Friday and half-day Saturday: two housekeepers (one doubling as an excellent cook) and a gardener. A minimum tip of $500 MXN (about $25 USD) per room per week, paid directly to staff, is customary.
All rates shown are all-inclusive and reflect the full cost of your stay, including applicable taxes and fees.
Pool heating available for an additional $200 fee. Children 10 and older welcome. Maximum 8 guests.
This home is yours exclusively for the length of your stay no shared spaces, no other guests, just you and the people you bring with you. Beyond the property itself, our on-the-ground team is part of what you’re booking. Need a ride from the airport, a stocked fridge before you arrive, daily housekeeping, or a private chef for one night? We arrange it. Curious about a wine tasting in the valley, a morning on horseback, a sunrise hot air balloon flight, or a guided walk through Centro’s history? We set that up too. Reach out any time we’re here for the small requests and the big ones.
Casa Abejas sits in historic centro three blocks from the Jardin or main square. It’s the location in San Miguel where you can step outside and find a good coffee, a bakery, a gallery or two, and the everyday rhythm of the city. Close enough to everything, quiet enough to actually rest.
San Miguel de Allende is a working colonial town first, a postcard second and that’s exactly its charm. Founded over four centuries ago and protected as a national historic site, the city wasn’t built for convenience; it was built to last, and it shows. During your stay, don’t be surprised by church bells marking the hours, fireworks celebrating something (anything, any time of day), a parade rerouting traffic for an afternoon, or the particular music of the trash collector’s bell and the knife sharpener’s whistle making their rounds. Roosters crow. Dogs bark. Construction crews keep their own schedule.
The cobblestones that make San Miguel so photogenic also make for an uneven walk comfortable shoes are non-negotiable. Older infrastructure means water pressure, hot water, internet, or power can occasionally take an unannounced break, usually a short one. None of this is a flaw in your particular home; it’s simply how a centuries-old town breathes. If your idea of a perfect stay requires total predictability and silence, a smaller town outside the historic center might suit you better. But if you can take the unpredictable in stride, you’ll find it’s part of what makes this place unlike anywhere else.
Getting Around San Miguel
You won’t need a car here. Taxis are everywhere and inexpensive. Flag down a green taxi and expect to pay around $80 MXN ($90-100 to most areas) for a ride anywhere in town. Uber works in San Miguel too, though cars can take a little longer to arrive than you’re used to elsewhere, so build in a few extra minutes. For something more tailored, we can arrange a private driver for in-town or day-trip travel (pricing depends on distance), and we offer airport transfers as well. Just message us and we’ll have it scheduled.
